Keira’s story,
Keira was born with a disease in her liver called congenital portosystemic shunt. Which was not known about until about 2 weeks before she passed. Prior to this Keira had experienced an accident where she had got hit by a car so needed a xray because she was limping and snapped a ligament in her knee. The X-ray and treatment for this cost around £700. Then on Tuesday 12th Keira started deteriorating, she had diarrhoea and was not eating and was losing weight rapidly. She was taken to the vets and that’s when they had explained she had a congenital portosystemic shunt. The vets had given her an injection to increase her appetite but this just made her worse and she was vomiting constantly and the diarrhoea was even worse. 2 weeks later and Keira had deteriorated to the extent of not being able to do anything and seemed so sad. She was then took to the vets again and they had performed an ultrascan which cost around £80 and at this point we were told unfortunately that Keira was too far gone to be saved so she was put to sleep and no longer in pain. We were all heartbroken at the thought of doing this but it was the right thing to do. As I have explained we have spent so much money on vet bills etc to help Kiera, we now just want to bring her back home where she belongs not just for our sake but for the children’s sake so they can say a proper goodbye to her. We would appreciate any help we can get to raise the amount we need to bring her home. Thank you so much.
