City Rockfest 2018: facebook.com/CityRockfestTour/ D13 LiveMusicEvents: facebook.com/d13livemusicevents The River Church: https://m.facebook.com/RiverChurchLive Hi, I'm Rick Blackburn/ D13 Live Music Events, an affiliate of The River Church in Midway/Winston-Salem, NC. I'm a small non-profit, christian rock promoter here in Winston Salem, NC as well as a member of The River Church. My desire and dream, is to provide a music ministry at The River, for the youth and young adults in our community. As with most small churches, our financial situation is very limited. WE NEED YOUR HELP. A little about me: Im married to the most awesome woman in the world and we have 5 kids...2 boys & 3 girls. All 3 of my teenage daughters play in the church praise and worship band every Sunday. I have always loved live music and played music all my life. I'm partial to loud & heavy, christian/spiritually-based rock. I'm talking about bands that do this as a love for God, that barely make any money being on the road, do not get any airplay on christian pop radio and get no support from their record company. If you've been in this for any length of time, you know the bands I'm talking about. Some of my favorite memories are seeing great bands like Disciple, Justifide, ThousandFootKrutch, Junker Jorg, The Benjamin Gate, Building 429, Bride, FamilyForce5 at the old Cafe Jam coffee shop in Greensboro, NC with my oldest son Chase. We'd walk outta that place, ears ringing, big smiles, neck hurting from headbanging. I felt like the coolest dad in the world! I can't begin to tell you how many young people, I witnessed, come to know Christ, by being drawn to that loud music, then see the guys slowly put down their guitars, walk off stage and the singer says, "Let me tell you about this man that died on a cross and changed my life forever." Chase and I still talk about those shows. I want my youngest son and 3 teenage daughters to experience that. I want our local teens to experience that. My dream and prayer is to bring more live music events like this, back to our area. NC is a very tough market for music these days, small venues and even in some churches that used to support it. I dont know what happened, but I want this generation to have that again. Good clean fun, loud music with a message. We will show the youth, we do love them and we do care! We want to provide them with music, entertainment, food and message. ALL funds will go to book bands, feed the bands and youth on concert night. Any leftover funds will go towards our next concert! This is an amazing opportunity for youth driven music ministry and I'm begging you to join me in bringing more Christian rock bands to NC. We need this. Our kids need this. God will be exalted and He will bless every penny donated!+ Read More
Concert in May is actually the 18th instead of 19...sorry for mistake. May 18th Youth Night at The River...to be continued
We're planning a concert for May 19 "Youth Night" with 2 amazing bands at The River Church! We need donations to pay the bands, buy food for the kids and bands. This will be the start of our Summer Youth Night for May through August (one per month). Please donate. ALL donations go to youth events! We are also needing these items for youth: foosball table, ping pong table, flat screen tv, xbox. No amount too small. Donate now please.
We have changed the name of this campaign, as well as our goals. We will use all donations for future christian concert tours in our area. Please get the word out. Let's show the youth in our communities we love them, we do care and they are relevant.
So excited to have the opportunity to raise funds for this phenomenal tour. Amazing bands, truly in it to spread the word of God through music. They are definitely NOT in it for the money. Theres no money in it! They do not have rockstar egos, don't shout out swear words, they warn against alcohol/drug abuse, suicide, warn against pre-marital sex, express how awesome it feels to follow Christ and have a personal relationship with Him. Wow. How many chances do we get to support something like this? You know, I was thinking...in our everyday lives, God gives us everything we have, of course, but where we choose to spend our money...lunch 10 bucks, movie 10.50, coffee 5 bucks, fill car with gas 50 bucks, secular concert ticket 100 bucks, parking 20 bucks, etc. That's for 1 person! Without blinking twice. Imagine if we could get 100 people to give 10 bucks, 20 bucks, 100 bucks etc. about the same amount we'd blow on something temporary, without even thinking, without even being asked...we could cause something amazing to happen. I need some dreamers, some big-hearted people to share this with me. Let's bring something positive to our area. I'll stand up on that stage and yell, God did this! Who else will share this vision?
