Brianna's brave fight

Donation protected
Brianna Wallace is a young 21 year old from Wonthaggi, Victoria, who, unfortunately, has had her whole life turned upside down and now has to endure the toughest journey life tends to throw at those who certainly don’t deserve it.

Over the last 4 weeks, Brianna has been very unwell. She has been getting large bruises all over her body, had dizziness, no appetite, lack of sleep, muscle aches, reflux and rapid weightloss. Brianna had put these symptoms down to a number of things; the flu, withdrawal from pain medication, ovarian cyst pain, or Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP - which is low levels of the red blood cells (platelets). Brianna was diagnosed with this and had been referred to a blood specialist however her appointment wasn’t until the start of August).

On the 17th of July 2019, Brianna had travelled to Box Hill Hospital for a rescheduled surgery to remove ovarian cysts. Upon arriving, her vitals were checked and after her resting heart rate was 100bpm, the doctors took quick action and began further testing. After multiple tests, a blood specialist came into Brianna’s room and told her the devastating news. Brianna had been diagnosed with Leukaemia and the following day, after more tests, was told it was Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia; A type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

Brianna now has to stay in hospital for 50+ days and undergo constant chemotherapy and potentially a bone marrow transplant. After those 50+ days, she will then need to travel back and forth from the hospital every 2 weeks for more chemotherapy. This is incredibly stressful for her family who want nothing more but to be with her daily, however it is an hour and 30 minute trip plus daily hospital parking fees and having to take time off of work. As you can imagine, Brianna still has ongoing bills and no way to pay for them as she in obviously unable to work. Any and all the money raised will not only support Brianna with any ongoing bills both medical and personal, but support her incredible and loving family by allowing them to take more time off work to be there for her during her treatments.

Anyone who has been affected by cancer knows just how hard it is and the toll it takes on both the patient and their family. We understand you may not have a lot to donate, but if you could spare even $1, that will go a long way and be greatly appreciated by Brianna and her family. Thank you all so much!
