Brianna Slater’s HSCT Journey-a new life

Hello My name is Brianna Slater and I’m 25 years old. In August of 2013 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. This disease has brought me many challenges, tears, and stress. MS is a terrible disease where the immune system attack’s the central nervous system, leaving me with daily obstacles like, weakness, pain, headaches, nausea, and worst of all, fatigue. All reminders that my health is declining and that fear is paralyzing to me. I’ve researched a transplant procedure (HSCT) that’s been shown to halt MS. I will have my stem cells collected, given chemotherapy to take away my immune system, and then my own stem cells will be reintroduced back into my body. My body will then create a new immune system that doesn’t have the memory cells to attack me. Having this transplant would help me in so many ways, and mean the world to me. I just want to be healthy. This is my second attempt at fundraising for this transplant because insurance denied any coverage the first time. This time I’m going to Puebla, Mexico where the cost is less but everything else is the same. Please help me reach my goal to have a second chance at life.
