Brian Booth - Heart Transplant

On November 1st, 2016 Brian was admitted to Northwestern Memorial hospital in Chicago where he currently waits in ICU for a heart transplant. Brian has been dealing with a heart condition/pacemaker for many years but over the last few years things have gradually gotten worse. He has made many trips to the ER, stays at OSF (Peoria) & Loyola (Chicago) for ablations but now his heart is too weak to keep going.

There is no timeline for a heart transplant, so Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago will be his home for quite a while. You wait for a match that could take weeks or many months. After the transplant, he will be in ICU / Recovery for a minimum of 4 weeks with 8 weeks of at home recovery. Then weekly trips to Northwestern for two months and monthly for a year.

Brian is blessed to have medical insurance for the rest of this year. Then the start of the new year will new medical expenses. But as we all know, there is always other expenses involved, which is why I am setting up this go fund me account for my sister & brother-in-law.

Hopefully it will help with extra medical, travel & living expenses while they are going thru this tough time. It's not cheap to travel these days & as they have found, nothing is cheap in Chicago!

Jamie continues to juggle her job, raise their 2 & 3 year old daughters, & travel back & forth to be with Brian as much as she can. Unfortunately the FMLA time she takes when off work is unpaid. She is trying to keep that at a minimum since they still have their regular every day living expenses also.

When it is time for the transplant & recovery Im hoping she is able to spend a majority of the time with Brian & the girls, so she can focus on her family instead of worrying about work, bills, & money.
