Brenda's Healing Miracle Fund

On March 26th, 2019 my mommy, Brenda Doreen Breathitt-Hennecy, called me in Pennsylvania and told me she had been diagnosed with cancer. She is only 52 years old.

June 20th, she had surgery to reduce the pressure from the tumor growing on her spine and had a rod and screws added to prevent the damaged vertebrae from collapsing so she didn't become paralyzed.
My mom has a very high pain tolerance and has never cried from physical pain easily. She has been in excruciating pain making participation in physical therapy nearly impossible. She needs to be able to stand and walk a few steps on her own and not dependent on a pain pump to be considered "healthy" enough to start chemo/radiation treatments. The doctors don't understand why her pain is increasing so much.

July 10th the doctors sent her for a MRI, X-Rays, and CAT scans. It appears both hips and femur necks are broken justifying her painful fighting against the physical therapy. The doctors are shocked by the rapid progression of the cancer in just 1 month.

July 11th Brenda has hip surgery on the right hip. X-Rays show the left hip has pushed through the femur and going into the pelvis. During the surgery doctors discovered the damage was worse that expected. Despite showing up on the x-rays, bone tissue was gone and had to use a longer rod for the femur due to more tumors being discovered lower on her thigh. The orthopedic surgeon said that there were tendons and ligaments that were unattached because the bone they were supposed to be attached to had dissolved away due to the tumors. He managed to replace the right femur neck, and a length of the femur, but that was the good side.

As of today, July 14, 2019, it has finally been confirmed that she has Non-Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma, an extremely rare kidney cancer that does not respond well to today's medical medicine and treatments. The tumors have eaten away both hips and more tumors have been discovered throughout her spine, her sacrum, both femurs, left kidney, and lymph nodes. The doctors say they have never seen such an aggressive disease before and that it is growing faster than they think they can overcome. Any form of chemotherapy would basically be adding toxins to a system that is already overcome with toxins from the disease itself. They want to surgically fix Brenda's left hip, but we have decided that replacing her left hip would only increase the pain, and serve no purpose in arresting or reversing the growth of the disease.
Brenda's pain has been horrific at times, and we do not wish to add to it with no assurance that the spread of cancer can be slowed or arrested. At the current rate, Brenda will not have much time left without a miracle the likes of which none of us have ever seen. Our thoughts are leaning toward getting her home and beginning palliative care, while remaining hopeful that God will intervene. If there is no value in adding to her pain, we will no longer permit it.

Tuesday July 15th, 2019 mom was transported back to her home in Lakeland, Florida.

My mom is a bubbly blue eyed blonde who was always the "good girl," never doing drugs, smoking, or other overly rebellious things. She is strong physically and in her faith, and her life-long love of Christ keeps her beautiful smile on her face through all these difficult trials. My mom loves to be goofy and her infectious laugh is the sound of pure joy. Her compassion for those around her is fierce and her kind heart wins over everyone she's come in contact with. Her up-beat outlook brightens the darkest room and this world is going to be a much darker place without her hugs and without her love.

As her only daughter, I am utterly destroyed by the thought that it is highly unlikely that my mommy will be there to be my first call when I get engaged, help me find my wedding dress, that I will be able to tell her how great her Mother of the Bride dress looks on her, that it is highly unlikely to see me get married, be with me when I give birth to her grandkids or help me teach her grandkids to swim just like she taught me too. When I picture my future, her joyous smile with pink lipstick and bright blue eyes accented by her iconic purple eyeshadow and tasteful dark blue eyeliner are there, everywhere, to greet me.

These funds will help with everything from medical bills, to gas, ride shares when needed, meals, in-home medical help, thank you cards, after care, etc...

Any amount of money or time donated in our family's trying time is greatly appreciated.

Thank you from the Breathitt-Hennecy's.
