Breathing Anew: A Lung Transplant Fund

Our mom, Wendy, has been diagnosed with a lung disease that is incurable and requires her to wear oxygen 24/7.  Mom has been unable to work or enjoy activities that she loves such as gardening, swimming and her most favorite of all, singing at karaoke. The ONLY treatment now is a double lung transplant. Though my parents are blessed to have health insurance which covers most of her medical needs, there are other costs to be considered that are obviously not covered by insurance. Such as gas, food, and hotels as well as the cost of a life flight to Cleveland when a match becomes available for her. These are just the expenses leading up to the transplant. It is a requirement that our mother remain in the Cleveland area for up to 6 - 8 weeks post transplant for treatment. The transplant team at Cleveland Clinic advises each patient to have at least $10,000 in a fund prior to the transplant to help cover for these expenses. Like most families, my parents live from paycheck to paycheck and these expenses are just too much for them to conquer on their own. My family has been through a lot with the loss of our oldest brother, Jerry, in a tragic motorcycle accident just a year ago and now with our mom's poor health. Please if you can find in your heart to donate, know that my family is truly grateful and if you can't, your prayers for our mom to receive the transplant before it's too late are definitely encouraged and appreciated!
