Life sometimes surprises us by being unpredictable in unique ways. We have the illusion that we can plan but Life has its own plans to manifest.
Our beautiful & smart Dr. Mina G. graduated at the top of her class in 2018 and started her job as a research scientist to contribute to scientific research, which she loves. In 2018, she was married to her best friend Amey to start her long and prosperous life with her husband.
Just as Mina was about to put behind many struggles in life, at the age of 30, she was diagnosed with aggressive Breast Cancer and in about 2 weeks her life was turned upside down. This is not what she planned for, and this surprised her, to say the least.
Mina is about to start her treatment. Breast Cancer treatment is, of course, excruciating and will impact her life drastically. But cancer treatment is also expensive, more than what a freshly graduated student can afford.
Parts of the expenses are of course covered by the insurance; however, there are essential procedures that should be covered by the patients, including fertility preservation (approx. $20,000), insurance deductible and out-of-pocket maximum (approx. $6,000), as well as immigration attorney fees ($4,000), please read on.
Her mother and father are unjustly impacted by the Travel Ban and cannot be with their daughter during this crucial time of need, nor can she travel due to her treatment plan and the Travel Ban.
Mina is a type of person who brings joy to the people around her; she is humorous, full of life & energy, an athlete, and a religiously healthy eater. We are lucky to have her as a friend and plan to do our best to support her during her year-long treatment and give her the emotional care she deserves.
