Hello world! My name is Shawnon and I am starting this page to help my sister Ally and her amazing daughter Braylynn. Yesterday my four year old niece was diagnosed with a tumor called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas. It is a cancerous tumor located in the middle of her brain and is attached to her brain stem. We were told it is inoperable, chemotherapy does not affect it and the only thing they can do is use radiation to slow the growth process. This may only help for about two months and then it will stop working as well. She has less than a 10% survival rate. We were told she may live for about a year. As you can imagine this is extremely heart-breaking to our family as our father is also dealing with ALS and is passing away as well. My sister is not ready to give her daughter up and they are both fighters.

Braylynn is a happy, smart, enjoyable four year old who will be five on Sunday. She hasn't had the chance to live her life yet and we are asking for your help to in order to give her the best possible chance. There is a surgeon in North Carolina that has successfully operated on this kind of tumor before and has had great outcomes. We are raising funds to get Braylynn, my sister, her husband, and her seven year old daughter to this doctor and to have this surgery. They need help with travelling expenses, shelter, every day needs such as food, and most importantly, the surgery. Every dollar helps no matter how big or small. The worst thought for a parent is burying their child. Please help us in our fight to keep that from happening.

Thank you for listening and thank you for helping if you can.

                   Sincerely,
A scared and caring Aunt Shawnon

It is with a heavy heart to say our Princess has left us. We lost our beloved Braylynn on Monday to this treacherous disease that needs to be eraticated. The donations will go to planning her funeral and to other families fighting this disease and some of it will be going to research to help find a cure. We do not wish this pain upon anyone. We may not be able to bring her back, but she may be able to help other babies from dying in the future. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Firstly, we would like to thank everyone for the positive thoughts, prayers, donations, and sharing of our page. It is amazing to know there is still so many truly kind people in the world.

Sorry it has been a while since an update. Braylynn went to the hospital on Thursday, January 4th feeling pretty congested. The doctors said she had been aspirating her food and medicine for a few days, but that was not the worst of it. They said she had developed a small bleed in the tumor. By the next morning she was unconscious and not too responsive. By Friday evening she was not responding to any pain and failed a neurological exam. They told us she would not make it much longer than 24-48 hours. On Saturday she was moved to hospice where she was able to be in a much quieter room and they removed all of the extra machines and tubes. By Sunday she was just on the ventilator. Come Monday we all prepared to say our goodbyes. The hospice then told us she may stay on the ventilator and in hospice as long as her mother would like. She then decided she would like to keep her on while she prepared the funeral arrangements to make it absolutely perfect for her daughter.

Over the last few days however, Braylynn has proven to be a fighter. Her vitals continue to stay strong and she has had a few other medical surprises in the right direction. At this time, the doctor believes in Braylynn as well and is helping to find any place that may be willing to take her in and at least try to help her.

At this time in our life, every day with her is a gift. We relish in this opportunity. Our story of our amazing Braylynn has gone far and wide across the world. We hope that much needed awareness to this horrible disease will come out of this. In the words of Braylynn's mother " we need a cure for this disease, not a damn band-aid".
If you would like to follow more up to date updates, you can find Braylynns page on Facebook as Braylynn's Battalion

Again, thank you everyone for your generosity. Life is a gift. Treat it as so.

After being denied by many places and having multiple doctors say there is no hope, they have decided on a treatment that will hopefully save Braylynn. They are traveling to Birmingham to start cbd oil treatment to get her off of the steroids the doctors put her on and then they are trying to get to Monterrey, Mexico where they have had some advancement in this type of cancer. The treatments alone are extremely expensive, but may save her life.
