Braxton Dollar Medical Expenses

“Update”
Braxton was diagnosed with DIPG on January 20, 2017 at the age of 4. DIPG is an inoperable brain tumor located in the brain stem. Children fighting DIPG only have an average survival of 9-12 months from diagnoses. Brax has been bravely fighting this horrific disease for 10 months now. The week after diagnosis Braxton completed 6 weeks of radiation treatment and started an oral clinical trial. In late August 2017 a MRI scan revealed that Braxton's tumor had begun to grow. At that time Braxton was removed from the clinical chemo trial he was participating in. In mid September 2017, Braxton started a new clinical chemo trial and steroids that he is currently participating in. We are hopeful these phase II trial medications will help to slow the tumors progression. We choose to participate in this trial because signs of the tumors progression can now be seen in Braxton's physical condition. He is an energetic little boy who loves the outdoors and he is struggling with he new inabilities. We are blessed with the fact that within 1 week of starting him back on the steroids, we have seen huge improvements in both his speech and mobility. With all the changes that are happening within Braxton's little body, Jeff has taken a leave of absence from work so that he can spend more precious time with Braxton each day. This will soon become a hardship on our family of 6 as we were a single income household.
Looking forward, we are still following treatments in other countries that we feel would be beneficial to Braxton. DIPG is diagnosed as terminal with 0% survival ratio but, we are watching the medical world and waiting for the day a better treatment plan or even a cure is found. These treatments in other countries are very very expensive requiring up front payments for medical services around $250,000 and long stays away from home. With us having three other children to care for, this would be very hard and costly on our family especially now that Jeff is taking some time off. But we will do what is best for Braxton and take him wherever he needs to go to receive the best treatments. Our family greatly appreciates all of the donations and prayers that have been sent our way over the last ten months. But this fight is far from over! We need your continued love, help, prayers, donations, and support as we prepare for the unknown. Which could include traveling out of the country with our baby boy for treatment. Every penny helps and is a blessing to Braxton. You can also help us by sharing Braxton's story as well as his go fund me page with your family & friends!
Thank you and God bless,
Jeff and Kim Dollar
