Braves Rowing Bus Fund

Tax deductible
Dear BRI Family,

Every rower knows that a boat is only successful if every athlete commits himself or herself to working together. And, like any good boat, a crew team as a whole is only as successful as the commitment of its members.  In fact, Braves Rowing would not be where it is today without the commitment of our athletes, their families, and their friends. Whether it was our first athletes working to turn the idea of a team into a reality, or more recent athletes and parents striving to overcome a series of difficult setbacks, commitment has always been the hallmark of BRI.

Recently our team has faced a serious setback that has affected every member of our team.  As you may be aware, our athletes require daily transportation to and from our offsite practice facility, located 30 minutes away from the high school.  Several years ago, the team purchased a bus to provide all interested students, including those with limited or no means of transportation, with the ability to attend and participate as members of the team.  Unfortunately, our bus has begun to exhibit some age related issues, and we have been informed that the engine on the bus would need to be replaced or rebuilt before we are able to resume using it for transportation of our athletes.

As always, our parent board and coaches are committed to meeting the needs of our athletes in a prudent, cost effective manner. After, careful consultation with two different professionals, as well as research on our part, we have found that the cost to purchase a newer bus is comparable to the cost of rebuilding or replacing the engine in our current bus. However, at this time, neither option currently falls within our current operating budget, and likely will not for the foreseeable future.

While our parents and students have committed themselves to finding ways to get our team members to practice while the bus is out of service, a more permanent, long-term solution needs to be found.  Without a functioning bus, our ability to recruit and retain athletes will be negatively affected, and our future viability as a team will be in jeopardy.  To that end, we are appealing to you, our BRI family, to help us raise the funds needed to repair or replace this vital piece of equipment.  Whatever contribution you can make, whether it’s $1 or $100, your commitment to our team’s success will be honored and appreciated.
