Helping Haak

$7,440 of $10,000 goal

Raised by 24 people in 1 month
Created June 4, 2018
Brandon Haak is a young  EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) at Pecan Plantation EMS who had to undergo emergency abdominal surgery just three days ago. He will be unable to work during a 6 week recuperation period. After 6 weeks, he may have to remain out of work for rehab, etc. He will then need an additional surgery in 6 months and will be ubable to work while recovering as well. Even if he could work, EMT wages are not sufficient to pay the medical bills that are mounting daily. The gofundme fundraiser will go a long way to help cover the medical bills and daily living expenses. We are asking that the fundraising begin as soon as possible so that these expenses can be paid. Thank you in advance, anything you donate will be greatly appreciated!

Update From Mallory:
Brandon saw the wound doctor on Monday. We were given good and bad news. Good news the wound is beginning to heal properly. Bad news there is still too much scar tissue and it's too soon to tell but there is a possibility of another surgery to remove it. This means he is unable to return to work. The wound vac was supposed to be removed at one month. We are 2 weeks past that and not getting any indication of removal anytime soon. Brandon was devastated by this news as all he wants is to get back to work to help provide for his family and back to his normal life. Sitting at home unable to do anything is starting to take it's toll. We have been instructed to return to the wound doc in two weeks. Please pray everything looks fantastic and she can give us the green light to start closing the wound without an additional surgery.
Please continue to pray for healing, strength, and positive thinking. It takes so much to go through something like this but even more to keep a positive outlook especially when you're constantly handed bad news.
We appreciate the continued support, love, prayers, and donations. We can use all we can get at this point.
Much Love

UPDATE From Brandon and Mallory:

We were hoping to have a better update this week for you guys, but we ran into a few complications. We should know more this week.
For now, Brandon is doing very well, considering. His spirits are high and we are absolutely blown away by the love, support, and donations.
The bills have started coming in, and although extremely daunting, we are trying not to worry about them just yet. Healing is our main and ONLY priority.
Brandon's twice a week wound care is beginning to get a little easier and a little less painful, despite the slow progress. We have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday and an appointment with the wound care doctor next Monday. Hopefully, they can finally give us some good news.
We appreciate each and every one of you. Our hearts are so full. We are beyond grateful.
Much Love
Brandon and Mallory
