Brandie's Fight With Stage4 Uterine Leiomyosarcoma

In July of 2018, at the age of forty-two, Brandie Gargasz had a hysterectomy to remove presumed benign fibroids. During her follow-up visit on August 9, Brandie was diagnosed with Uterine Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Uterine LMS is a Rare tumor. Only about 6 out of one million women will be diagnosed with this rare cancer in the U.S annually.
Due to the likelihood of reoccurrence of LMS, Brandie has been under close observation by her Doctors at Sylvester Cancer Center in Miami, Florida. At the end of May, 2019, our worst fears became realized upon the discovery of multiple nodules that have formed in Brandie's lungs. Today, June 10, 2019 Brandie begins her journey to fight for her life.
Brandie's Sarcoma Specialist is recommending six cycles of an aggressive chemotherapy treatment of Ifosfamide and Doxorubicin. She will be admitted at University of Miami Hospital for infusion over the next week. Following this treatment, Brandie will undergo lung surgery to remove any remaining cancer in her lungs, followed by ongoing chemotherapy post surgery.
An amazing, beautiful, spiritual and loving mother of two boys, Ethan (seven-years-old) and Evan ((twenty-one-years-old) Brandie lights up every room she has ever entered! I've never met a more courageous woman who puts others first at all times, including during this daunting experience. Brandie is a private-duty caregiver to a fourteen-year-old girl with Retts Syndrome. She is most concerned about how her illness will impact her children and those who rely on her.
During this next year Brandie will be forced to focus solely on her surgery, treatment, and recovery and will be out of work for the duration. Brandie's Warriors are inviting you to donate to provide support to our wonderful friend who has spent her life giving to others.
