Baby Braedyn Brockmann
We face serious medical bills since his dad does not have an employment position that provides healthcare and his mom is not working due to being with Braedyn around the clock at the NICU!
The reason for the early delivery was due to Samantha having next to no cervix thus making it impossible for our child to make it for full term delivery. By the time the doctors figured out the complication, it was too late to do anything about it without even greater risk. This meant that we could only wait and hope that he could stay in the oven as long as possible. Well at 26 weeks and 4 days Mother Nature kicked in and Braedyn was born.
Since Braedyn's birth he has faced many challenges with so many more to come that seem insurmountable. He has fought and battled his way to being 2 months old & has really come a long way.
We just found out that Braedyn is now going to be battling ROP (Retinothapy of Prematurity) which basically means that his retinas have not fully developed yet. If they do not develop accordingly over the next few weeks then Braedyn is at risk for potential loss of color through the retina, lazy-eye, or even permanent blindness.
Braedyn will undoubtedly be in the NICU until at least November around his original due date or a little longer. He will still need extensive physical therapy, not to mention other necessary therapies. He deserves nothing less than the very best of health and care that we can provide and to do so we are seeking your help and support. We could use funds for daily needs such as gas money, clothing, diapers and getting ready to provide for Braedyn's special needs.
We have created this GoFundMe page for him and we are hoping to reach out to as many open and heavy hearts as we can so that we can all assist in Braedyn's care helping him to grow up healthy and strong.
Everyone who contributes will be provided a current picture of Braedyn. Updates and pictures of his progression will also be provided! We would consider everyone who helps a part of his family and we will be updating everyone regularly!
We thank you for any contribution you can make, no matter how small, to give this little boy a chance at being the healthiest baby that modern medicine can provide. We are indebted to each and every donor and thank you endlessly from the bottom of our hearts!
As of 10/01 Braedyn weighs 8lbs 11.3 oz!! He is doing really good with breastfeeding and does good with bottle feedings too. Right now he is getting anywhere from 25-40 MLs from the bottle. If he continues to do well with his feedings, then we are one step closer to bringing him home!! He needs to get his full feed- which is 70 MLs - and be able to take all of that without using his feeding tube. Once he can do this the nurses said they will also be removing the nasal cannula (extra oxygen). Since Braedyn has not needed any extra oxygen for a few weeks now, they chose to leave it on until he gets better with his feedings just to keep his airways open! Braedyn has officially outgrown his preemie clothes and fits into his newborn and 0-3 outfits! The optometrist still comes once a week to check his eyes and as of last week there was still no change. He's a very quiet relaxed baby who loves his pacifier and loves snuggling with mommy!! Every Wednesday and Sunday he gets a bath and he absolutely loves the warm water!
That's all for now!! Keep checking back to see how Braedyn is progressing and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE THIS PAGE!!! Any and all donations help and go straight to Braedyns medical bills
The Brockmann Family ♥️
Sam has only the clothes she took with her to the hospital before Irma.
She cannot stay at the house in Florida as it has been declared unlivable by the city. Fortunately she has the ability to stay at the Ronald MacDonald house at the hospital campus and spends most nights with Braedyn at the NICU.
It's going to be a long road to get past this. All the little things you depend on in your daily life are just gone and there's really no place to put replacements, because the rain is still coming in.
Please pray for us and hold us in your mind to give us the strength to get through this. We thank you so much from the bottoms of our hearts!

An update from mommy is that Braedyn has taken to breast feeding extremely well. There have been a few issues with him forgetting to suck or forgetting to breathe which will push back the feeds to "every other feeding session". So he will feed with mommy and then alternate with tube feeding until he can get on track with it successfully with no issues.
Winds have increased substantially and several trees have already toppled. The eye of the storm will be upon us within several hours. We thank EVERYONE for their support for baby Braedyn and even more so for the loss we are going to sustain at our home by Irma. Please send your prayers our way as they will definitely be both needed and embraces. We are praying for ourselves along with every other soul that is effected by this tragedy.
