Nicole arrived home from work on the evening of August 27th, 2018 to a little water in the basement of their Coon Valley home. Like most people in the area, she didn’t worry too much about it. But in less than a few hours, the basement was totally flooded. She looked out her backyard window and saw the flood waters rising. When the water started to reach the second level of their backyard treehouse, Nicole and her husband had no choice but to take her two young girls and drive to higher ground to avoid getting trapped.
When the rain stopped, they went home. The damage was devastating! The lower level of their home where their daughter’s bedroom, family room and their utility room was destroyed. The electrical box and HVAC were beyond repair and needed to be completely replaced. But they began to pick up the pieces, knowing they would not have any assistance from their insurance company.
Then came another wave. Just last night into the early morning hours (September 3rd-4th), heavy rain waters began seeping into their basement. All of the work and repairs they had done in the wake of the previous storm were ruined. Once again, in less than two weeks’ time, they have to pick up the pieces.
The costs of these repairs are very high and are close to doubling since the second wave of flooding happened. If you’re able spare any funds to assist with this rebuild, Nicole, her husband Brad and their two daughters Ella (5) and Emily (1) would be grateful for the support. This fundraiser is being organized without their knowledge by close friends who want to help good people get back on their feet.
