Robert Botkin fighting cancer

Donation protected
On July 31st 2015, Robert Botkin (an Osceola County Firefighter/paramedic) received some devastating, life altering news; he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the age of 29.
For those of you who are unaware of the severity of the situation, pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive forms of cancer one could get. Many of the symptoms (upper abdominal/back pain, yellowing of your skin and the whites of your eyes, loss of appetite, weight loss, and depression) go unattended to before the cancer gets the opportunity to spread to surrounding organs. Regrettably, this is the case with Robert as well … By the time the cancerous tumor (roughly the size of a tennis ball) had been discovered, the cancer had already spread to part of the pancreas, gall bladder, and a portion of the small intestine.
Robby is scheduled to undergo his first operation on Thursday (8/13), where a surgeon will perform a pancreatoduodenectomy (also known as a Whipple procedure). This is a difficult, and demanding procedure for both the person undergoing surgery, and the surgeon. During his operation; part of the pancreas, part of the small intestine (duodenum), and the gall bladder will be removed. They will also check to see if the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes at this time. Your prayers and positivity would be much appreciated as he faces this first hurdle on the road to recovery.
Robby is a friendly, courageous and kind man. He is a father of two, devoted civil servant, and dedicated fireman. He has spent countless hours of his professional career attending to other people’s needs in their darkest hours. So please return the favor, and show Robby your support in his darkest hour … Click to make a donation, no matter how small, and help with the immense medical bills he is facing (and will continue to face) on this journey.
