Boston Bound

As many of you know, the city of Boston has stolen my heart. I love the diversity, the history, and the rhythm of the city. Specifically, I'm drawn to the students of Boston. Middle school is rough to begin with, but when you multiply it by impoverished communities, limited school resources, and the overwhelming pressures of social media, you get kids who are lost and seeking affirmation from anyone or anything. Boston has amazing schools filled with educators who are making a difference in these students' lives by challenging them academically and personally in the classroom and through community involvement.
My goal, ultimately, is to partner with schools and fine arts organizations in the greater Boston area and found a non-profit program for underresourced teens in Boston. While there is ample research on the benefits of fine arts involvement for teens, resources and quality instruction are limited for students in underserved, urban areas. My dream is provide these students with a safe but challenging environment where they can explore and develop their talents and abilities.
To achieve this dream, I am relocating to Boston to teach middle school math at a school in Dorchester. I plan to establish and strengthen relationships
between schools and fine arts organizations I already have connections with before establishing a new program in the future. That being said, I have had several dear people ask how they can be part of getting me to Boston in this first leg of the dream; I have set up this goal to assist with all of the joys that go along with moving across the country! I have already been overwhelmed by the love and support I've received over the last year in this venture, and I am confident that God will continue to provide a way through people like YOU!
