Books for Indonesian Children

BUAB (Buku Untuk Anak Bangsa) is a charity program conducted by Indonesia Student Association in Victoria, Australia. This program aims to aid the alarming education level in Indonesia. According to Indonesia Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in 2015, it is found that over 22% of Indonesian that are above 10 years old are not able to read at all. This shocking numbers may be resulted in the lack of resources for those in need. In addition, United Nation reported that in 2013, Indonesia was put in the lower 50% of the World Education Index. This shows that education issue needs more attention.
With BUAB, The Indonesian Student Association in Victoria aims to help Indonesian student and anyone eager to learn by providing resources regarding reading material
In order to fulfill this vision, we aim to make a donation in different forms, physical book and currency, which will be allocated solely for the purpose above.
We managed to collect more than 4650 books for donation from the previous BUAB. During the process, City of Port Phillip Libraries and City of Hume Libraries have been our major donors, contributing more than 90% of the books we collected. This successful achievement have been heart-warming for the Indonesian Students Association, Indonesian education institutions, libraries, and other recipients.
This time, we aim to deliver more books for those in need and the donated funds will be used to finance the transport fee for delivery from Melbourne to Indonesia. The remainder of the fund will be donated, if not, converted to books for donations.
