A Book Fund for Kids 2016

Welcome to the second annual A Book Fund for Kids! Last year, many generous givers helped The College Crusade of Rhode Island purchase books for over 80 middle-school students in our literacy program. Here is a photo of some of them on the last day of class. Can you tell how excited they were to receive their very own book to take home?
Today the College Crusade Alumni Association is launching A Book Fund for Kids 2016. We hope you will contribute whatever you can to help us purchase books for a whole new class of students.
All the young people in our literacy program want to go to college someday. They know this means they need to become better readers. So they invest their time on Saturdays in a program designed especially for them. The program started in October 2015 and finishes in April 2016. That’s a lot of Saturdays. They get up early and ride a bus to class. Then they spend hours reading, building vocabulary, making new friends, and talking a lot about books and stories.
We need more than 80 books this year. Please join us to raise the funds to purchase enough books and give the gift of reading to these very dedicated young students. Thank you!
