A Home & Hope for Alexis & I

A little about us:

My name is Kimberly and I am a single mom with an amazing daughter. I'm an artist, and a writer, and I try every day of my life to be a good and kind person.  The most important person in the world to me is my daughter, Alexis. She is my miracle, and a half dozen doctors told me she was an impossible dream.

Her father left after years of devolving into a narcissistic and abusive drug addict, taking everything when he did, and costing us our home. I was struggling with some health issues of my own (still am) and this sent me into an emotional tailspin, leading to a suicide attempt and some intensive therapy during a brief hospitalization and since. It's been a daily struggle to just remain alive, and this girl, my daughter, is the main reason I am. I need to do right by her. She was forced to grow up too soon and take on too much responsibility through no fault of her own. Her dad gone, and her mom going through chemo would have been bad enough, but she's also been there through all of the rest. I am hoping that this endeavor will not just provide for us in the here and now, but also provide some stability for her so she's able to pursue HER dreams. If you can help we will be eternally grateful. We need a stable home base. The key to everything begins there.

If you're wondering why I don't have a job right now: I have some health issues, some physical, some mental. On the physical side, I've been dealing with some persistent adenomas in my stomach. They've been removed and I've undergone chemo twice now and have just recently learned there are more. Also, I have pernicious anemia. It leaves me exhausted all the time, ever day, with trouble focusing, trouble with memory, and more. It sounds almost benign, but it is a constant struggle. Nerve damage from a car accident also presents challenges. I miss being able to do whatever activities I wanted without pain.

On the mental side, I've been diagnosed with major depressive disorder, PTSD, and anxiety. It is in large part due to my marriage, I'm sad to admit, but some of it began before that.

When I was a young girl, I was stalked by a man who called himseld Dr. Ramsey. It went on for 18 months, during which he told my parents he intended to rape and kill me. For many years (most of my life), I kept that experience in a box, buried far in the rafters of my mental attic. A little over a year ago, I wrote a short version of what happened for a post on a popular social media site, and was overwhelmed by the response and genuine interest people had in my story. (You can read it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/LetsNotMeet/comments/19oxoc/dr_ramsey/)
I would like to take that short version and add in the details, and create a book, possibly including tales from other stalking victims. I want to do this both for the cathartic benefit (speaking about this, even anonymously, has been helpful), and as a means to help support my daughter and I as we both venture back to school to further our educations. I would be immensely grateful for any donations, as well as being willing to mention the highest donations in a special acknowledgement page and sending copies to those people as well.
