Bonifacio FilVetREP Fundraiser

In honor of Bonifacio's 1 Year Anniversary, we will be hosting a KamayanFest fundraiser with the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) to raise money for the Filipino Veterans Recognition and Education Project, a national initiative to raise awareness and obtain national recognition for the over 260,000 Filipino and Filipino-American soldiers for their wartime service to the U.S. in WWII. Our restaurant's namesake, Bonifacio Yanga, the grandfather of the owner, was one of these veterans who fought valiantly for the cause and whose brother died on the field of battle.

In 2016, a bill was passed awarding these Filipino veterans the Congressional Gold Medal, one of the highest civilian awards bestowed by the United States. In an effort to offset these costs for our veterans who have already paid their sacrifices, we will be joining a national campaign to raise money for replicas of the medal that will be awarded to these veterans or their next of kin at multiple ceremonies across the United States.

Our overall goal is to raise $10,000 for a cause that means so much to us and so much to the hundreds of thousands of Filipino veterans who have been waiting and fighting for the recognition of their service.
