Bodie's battle with parvo

Donation protected

Hi everyone!

As most of you know, I was extremely excited to complete my family with four furry legs that my kids could grow up with! Someone I had known suggested adopting from her rescue group Caring Canine Connections. I instantly fell in love with the black lab they had on their site and I just had to make him mine. So after driving an hour to get to where he was, I got to bring home my puppy who we named Bodie. He was a very calm, sleepy, depressed like puppy which I just thought was due to new people, new enviroment, puppy things. Little did I know what was going to happen 6 days of having him. On Bodies 6th day with us he started to vomit worms and vomit every 30 minutes. I had reached out to the woman who gave him to me and she stated it was "normal" and to just get a dewormer from a pet store. Who mind you told me the day before everything was fine with his stool testing. I had gone with my gut which other people adviced me to take him to the vet because something was just not right. I left work early to rush Bodie to the vet. After a bunch of test, he was diagnosed with Parvo, a highly contagious intestinal virus within dogs. I was completely in shock, all I thought was going to happen was him get dewormed professionally. Next I knew was I had to leave my new baby to be hopitalized until who knew when. Once admitted him and leaving I called the woman again who gave me Bodie. She tried to tell me that my vet was lying and she just wanted my money, that my puppy was fine. When in fact, he was not fine. Not even close. If I had not taken him to the vet that night he would have died. She tried to tell me it was a false positive and if I wanted to, take him to the vet they use and things will be okay. I again went with my gut and kept him where I knew he would be taken care of. After doing research at home later that night I came to find out that 4 other women who rescued dogs from the same rescue group went through the same situation as me. Thankfully all puppies are alive and well. This situation is extremely unfortunate and I am not too sure where to go from here. Any help is appreciated and updates on Bodie and the situation will be made daily. Thank you for reading and your help and hopefully Bodie will be on his road to a great recovery so my family can start making memories together.
