In November of 2015, Bob Welzenbach was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, one of the most aggressive and fast growing cancers. He is waging a courageous fight but unfortunately, he cannot win against this horrific disease. After several rounds of radiation, it was determined that further treatment including chemotherapy would no longer be a viable option. Nothing prepares you for the devastation of having to accept a diagnosis of a terminal illness.
Bob has been leading a vibrant life filled with family - three wonderful children and five grandchildren. Barbershop harmony also played such an important part of his life as the tenor of the 1970 SPEBSQSA International Champion quartet - The Oriole Four.
After much urging, Bob’s family has finally agreed to reach out for help from their family, friends, and the barbershop community. Many people have asked if they can help in any way. YES!
The unexpectedness of Bob's failing health has taken us all by surprise with little time to know how to react or prepare. As the good wishes and prayers for Bob’s well-being generously continue to come in from all that love him, we cannot forget the effect this will have on his family regarding payment of hospital bills, day to day expenses to support his care in hospice, and any future medical debts that are unforeseen at this time. Please help this anguished family any way you can. Thank you for your caring and compassion.
