Bobby's Motorcycle Accident

Donation protected
On July 16, 2018, Bobby Rushford was riding his motorcycle through Columbus, Ohio on his way back to Nashville from a beautiful wedding he attended in Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania.  Rain forecast  was a factor this day the closer we headed South.  I was traveling along with Bobby in my vehicle.  The plan was wherever Bobby pulled over to get his rain gear on, I was to pull in directly behind him and put on my hazard lights to protect him.  As the light rain started, he pulled into an underpass for his rain gear when the bike started to get away from him.  I watched him as he tried so hard to keep that bike up.  He was at about a 45 degree angle when the bike got the best of him.  With all the debris, small stones, wires, hubcaps, broken side view mirrors and such underneath that underpass, it's no wonder he was having a difficult time.

I called 911 immediately as I stopped and was running over to him. Two passerby's pulled over to assist.  Bobby was able to get up, get his bike up with assistance from the man and, lucky for him, the other person was a nurse.  She looked him over and by the looks of his face, she said he had a hematoma and needed to get to a hospital.

EMT was there immediately.  They took him to Mount Carmel West Hospital in Columbus.  When I arrived at the ER, I was told he had a Epidural Hematoma (EDH) behind the right ear.  This is the side he went down on.  While a CT Scan was being performed on Bobby, his mental status declined quickly,  he was being intubated as the operating doctor was called in for emergency surgery.  The surgeon told me Bobby was already in a coma by the time he got to him.  He had to cut open his skull and remove the blood clot that form.

Bobby is a strong man with a strong faith in God.  At this time, he is off his ventilator and drain tubes are out.  He's about 400 miles away from home.  Please pray for his family as they travel back and forth to bring comfort to him.  He's a single dad who raised his 22 year old daughter alone.  She won't leave his side nor will his 84 year old mother.  If anyone has ideas on ways to save for their sleep accommodations, traveling, food, it would be greatly appreciated.

The road to Bobby's recovery is going to be the longest ride of his life.  Less than 6 days ago his longest ride was 590 miles to the wedding in Pennsylvania.  Please pray for this loving, gentle, sweet man.  (I always told him how sweet he was and he'd say, "don't tell anyone").  Well, I'm telling everyone.

I started this fund for Bobby hoping to assist with travel expenses, his monthly bills, along with his upcoming medical expenses.  Supporting to Bobby's GoFundMe account with even the smallest of donation would be greatly appreciated.  If we all pull together in this, friends, family and community, a little will go along way to relieve some of the financial burden.

Thank you on behalf of Bobby and his family.
