Cancer related Medical Bills, Needs
My name is Brooke. I am 39 yrs old. Have 3 daughters and my husband and I will be celebrating our 24 years of marriage this October (2016). I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer November 2013, then 2 months later (Jan 2014), was Diagnosed with grade 2 stage 1 IDC and DCIS Breast Cancer. I have been through so many treatments, surgeries including a lumpectomy, complete abdominal hysterectomy with Oopherectomy, 3 needle core biopsies, Double Mastectomy with bilateral lymph node dissection, and the most recent, a Tissue Expander to Implant exchange surgery. I am currently on a pill form of cancer treatment, and am awaiting appointments for updated scans and new surgery dates to finish the reconstruction. When I learned that my dream of going back to work as soon as I would like was just that, "a dream", I found myself worrying about what to do. The whole surgical process has taken so long, they had already pre-warned me to expect at least 11 months from the initial Mastectomy in Jan 2016 and since then we've had some complications causing an even longer time frame. We are so behind with our bills, have had to make so many sacrifices just to stay behind. My husband and I have spent all of our savings and everything on all of my care over the last 2 years. We have nothing left. I haven't been able to work since I started getting sick and am so eager to get well so I can go back to work. I am a Registered Nurse. I worked so hard for that license and have been dreaming of getting back to helping people. Before that dream of mine can become a reality, I have to get these surgeries done and the long process completed. I did not want to ask for help but I didnt know where else to turn. I need help for living expenses, medical expenses, and so I can afford to travel back and forth to my oncologist and surgeons office, 4 hours round trip each time, while I am going through the surgeries and treatment of the reconstruction process, scans and tests to make sure that cancer hasn't spread anywhere. With all of the worries of the surgeries, the complications/infections, the pain, finances for everything, my families well being, and my emotional/mental changes happening, I am not sure what else to do. If anyone could help with any amount, my family and I would be forever grateful. Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a very giving person, so asking for help is hard for me to do.
