Blueridge Syrian Family

Donation protected
Update: Thank you to everyone who donated to the Syrian family. Thanks to your generosity we have raised more than $3000 for the Syrian family. In addition, so many people wrote words of condolence and hope that will be compiled in a card for the family. We have turned off the campaign, but if you would still like to donate, contact us through gofundme.  For updates please check out our Facebook  page or website . Sincerely, Angela Duso, Blueridge Community Association.

Original Post: Hi Everyone, some of you may have heard that the Syrian  family who settled in Blueridge in February was robbed yesterday.

Someone forced a window during a short period of time when the house was unoccupied. The police were called, but haven't found the culprit. Block Watch has been alerted.

I feel terrible about this. Here is a family that is down on their luck, and they have been targeted in this neighbourhood of all places (which seems to have very few break-ins) which has been their safe haven so far.

The thief (thieves?) took anything they had of  value, even their cell phone chargers, medication and a suitcase of clothing. For a family that arrived in this country with nothing but the clothing on their backs, the loss is devestating, not to mention the violation of having their house broken into.

Right now, the most immediate need is cash so that they can get back on their feet. The Blueridge Community Association is coordinating this effort. The money will go directly to the family to assist them at this difficult time.
