Blessings for Rachel Saumell

Unfortunately I am writing this because we lost an awesome person this week that we all loved.  Rachel was an inspiration in her fight over the last few years as she fought to the bitter end.  The story of Herb and Rachel will go on, and that is due to their love for each other.  As we mourn the loss of Rachel I can't help but think of what their family has gone through over the last few years.  They have spent countless hours at hospitals and doctors offices as they fought so hard.  During these trying times and despite the life altering disease they were battling, their love for each other never wavered.   Although we never spoke of it, we knew they were on borrowed time.  They made the most of it by traveling when they could and building their dream home in Waterset.  I know Rachel was super excited to get into the new house and see the kitchen she designed, but unfortunately that did not come to fruition as they are supposed to close on the house in three weeks.  Rachel was a beautiful person inside and out and has left a lasting impression on everyone she has ever met.

Life is definitely not fair at times, but this situation has restored my faith as I witnessed this relationship progress.  I know with certainty when Herb and Rachel rekindled their relationship from middle school it was the happiest I have seen Herb in many years.  They were the answer to each other's prayers and destined to be together.  Not knowing at the time, God had definitely set them up, as Rachel would need someone as strong and selfless as Herb to take care of her and help her battle for several years.  I can not begin to tell you all how many times Herb would work midnights with me then go home and take Rachel to the doctor and stay with her all day without sleeping at all.  He would then come and work his shift again that night and somehow find the energy to be a great leader and supervisor in an extremely stressful profession.  I do not know of many people that could have done what Herb has done consistently for the past several years.  He has been an inspiration to me and many others as he has shown why God brought them back together and how a husband should love his wife.  Herb has been Rachel's Angel for the past several years and now Rachel will be Herb's forever.

Unfortunately when you lose a loved one there is the burden of many expenses.  We are asking for donations to help with funeral expenses.  Let's make it as easy as possible for Herb and Ali as they try to move on from this horrible tragedy.

We love you Rachel!
