Blazers Boys Tournament

Tax deductible
Hi Everyone! We are looking for your help with Oscar's soccer team's travel expenses.

As many of you know, this wonderful boy in the video is our son Oscar for whom soccer has been a passion for over 10 years. Those close to us are also aware that this passion for soccer makes up a large part of our lives and has helped Oscar become the person you all know and love. And those who know us well also know,  his involvement with FC Blazers has contributed to this development as a player and as a young man.

He is heading into his third season with Francis Okaroh and his coaching staff.  FC Blazers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on developing competitive athletes, and model citizens on and off of the field.

Over 60% of Oscar's club members come from disadvantaged backgrounds and this exposure to college coaches and the recruiting process provides them with a door to college that would otherwise not open for them.

This is where you can help!

His team have been accepted to participate in ESPN's Wide World Of Sport Showcasing tournament in Orlando in December 2017. This tournament is rated #1 in the country and attracts hundreds of college coaches, not just from from prestigious US colleges but also from overseas, providing an opportunity for our players to get recruited and help them get to the next level of play; often something that is outside of their reach financially.

As Oscar said in the video, some of his teammates-whose photoes or bio we cannot disclose-played a large role last year in helping his team achieve this success and now find themselves unable to travel to Orlando for this tournament because of their family's financial situation. Which is why we decided to set up a fund to try to raise enough money to bring 5 of our players to Orlando.

We are reaching out to our family and friends as well as our broader community to ask you to contribute to this fund. No matter where you live you can contribute $10, $50 or whatever you can afford. Nothing is too small. We are often sad that, due to being an ocean apart, our immediate families cannot attend Oscar's matches and get to know these dedicated and committed boys who are his teammates so we are hoping that this gives you the opportunity to be a part of something that is important to our family.

Some people have asked why it costs so much and why a club can't pay for travel costs: We fundraise annually to cover the financial aid packages that we offer to families who qualify, but for a tournament like this at the height of travel season, it is not possible for a club to pay travel expenses for individual players. And, unlike other clubs, FC Blazers never offer a "free ride" to "good" players who might help win games. Our financial aid is completely merit based and is not offered as an option until players are accepted onto a team.

Here is the team following last years State Cup Final. Please note that this photo is of last season's team and is used only to promote this campaign. It is only partly reflective of our current roster. Not all players in this photo are currently with the team.
