Help Kids See "Black Panther"

Donation protected
My name is Craig Stokes (@CraigStokes ). I’m a proud native of Fayetteville, NC and a graduate of E.E. Smith High School c/o ‘99. I’ve partnered with Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County and Unit Director, Alina Tate, to provide an amazing opportunity to see Marvel’s new Black Panther film to as many of the deserving boys and girls that are members of the Club as possible. Why Black Panther? Rolling Stone magazine contributor Tre Johnson wrote about the importance of the Black Panther film: "An entire generation of children will now know that a black superhero, society, imagination and power can exist right alongside Peter Parker, Steve Rogers and Bruce Wayne. An entire generation of children will not know what it feels like to NOT see themselves reflected back on costume racks, coloring books or movie screens. We're at a pivotal time where these characters and stories are coming not out of permission or obligation, but necessity." To read more, click Here. This representation and expanded perspective are truly fundamental for today’s young people - especially those who are often underserved, unprivileged, and marginalized in their city, nationally and globally - because “where there is no vision, the people perish.” Where Your Donation Goes Every $20 donation provides (1) student with a $13.00 movie ticket + $7.00 for popcorn. (NOTE: No donation amount is too small and any support you provide is greatly appreciated!) Black Panther will be released on Friday, Feb. 16th, 2018 and the students will see the film on Monday, Feb. 16th. ALL proceeds will go towards covering the cost of the movie tickets and refreshments for the students and counselors (chaperones). Any remaining balance of donations after this “Black Panther” experience will go directly to the Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County. More Details For every group of 10 students there will be one counselor assigned. There will also be a 30-60 minute presentation (delivered by me or the staff at the Boys & Girls Club) given to the students PRIOR to the movie screening to reinforce the importance of the film, believing in themselves and their dreams, etc. The Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County will provide passenger vans to transport the students to and from the screening and will also provide the release forms for parents/guardians to sign. About The Organization The Mission of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County is “To Inspire all Young People, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and loving citizens!” Learn More: https://www.ccbgc.org/ Thank You I sincerely appreciate you joining me in supporting our children.
