My name is Craig Stokes (@CraigStokes ). I’m a proud native of Fayetteville, NC and a graduate of E.E. Smith High School c/o ‘99. I’ve partnered with Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County and Unit Director, Alina Tate, to provide an amazing opportunity to see Marvel’s new Black Panther film to as many of the deserving boys and girls that are members of the Club as possible. Why Black Panther? Rolling Stone magazine contributor Tre Johnson wrote about the importance of the Black Panther film: "An entire generation of children will now know that a black superhero, society, imagination and power can exist right alongside Peter Parker, Steve Rogers and Bruce Wayne. An entire generation of children will not know what it feels like to NOT see themselves reflected back on costume racks, coloring books or movie screens. We're at a pivotal time where these characters and stories are coming not out of permission or obligation, but necessity." To read more, click Here. This representation and expanded perspective are truly fundamental for today’s young people - especially those who are often underserved, unprivileged, and marginalized in their city, nationally and globally - because “where there is no vision, the people perish.” Where Your Donation Goes Every $20 donation provides (1) student with a $13.00 movie ticket + $7.00 for popcorn. (NOTE: No donation amount is too small and any support you provide is greatly appreciated!) Black Panther will be released on Friday, Feb. 16th, 2018 and the students will see the film on Monday, Feb. 16th. ALL proceeds will go towards covering the cost of the movie tickets and refreshments for the students and counselors (chaperones). Any remaining balance of donations after this “Black Panther” experience will go directly to the Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County. More Details For every group of 10 students there will be one counselor assigned. There will also be a 30-60 minute presentation (delivered by me or the staff at the Boys & Girls Club) given to the students PRIOR to the movie screening to reinforce the importance of the film, believing in themselves and their dreams, etc. The Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland County will provide passenger vans to transport the students to and from the screening and will also provide the release forms for parents/guardians to sign. About The Organization The Mission of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cumberland County is “To Inspire all Young People, especially those who need us most to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and loving citizens!” Learn More: https://www.ccbgc.org/ Thank You I sincerely appreciate you joining me in supporting our children. Woohoo! Today is the day that all your donations, your support, and your love for the kids at the Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland Co come together!

The 56 tickets have been purchased. The refreshments are waiting for the kids when they arrive at the theater. Foxy 99 and the Fayetteville Observer have covered this event. But, before they see the film, they will see this video message from me:

I wanted to remind them that today is bigger than just going to see a movie.

I want them to leave the theater with four words on their hearts and minds: Dream Bigger, Get Better.

I can't thank you enough for your support of this campaign. I'll be sure to share any pics, videos, articles from this event so that you can continue to see just how far your support has reached.

Goals are meant to be set, achieved, and set again.

We started out with a goal of helping 50 kids to see the upcoming film, Black Panther. 23 of you made that goal a reality in only 4 days!

The film is simply a catalyst to expand the minds of the youth of The Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland Co by helping them see proud people of color depicted as superheroes, strong leaders, and rich with culture. In short, Black Panther serves as a way to plant a seed that says "you can do more and be more because you already ARE more than you've ever imagined."

With that, I've doubled our goal to help 100 kids see the film FREE of charge and I believe that if the past 4 days are any indication, we can hit this goal in no time. Thank you in advance for believing with me and supporting the future of tomorrow, today.

Here's to achieving our new goal. Together.

With gratitude,

31 students will be able to see and be INSPIRED by Black Panther - for FREE - all thanks to your donations and support so far. We've reached over 60% of our goal in just TWO days.

Thank you. You recognized the vision of this campaign and the impact it can have. I appreciate you more than you know.

Let's keep up the momentum. Please SHARE the campaign with any and everyone. I've created a press release to help get the word out to as large an audience as possible. We have the potential to surpass the initial $1K goal and really make a difference in Cumberland Co.

Thanks again!

- Craig
