America Through Her Eyes is a photography and travel project that I need some help with from family, friends, and those who believe in change. My goal is to travel within the United States of America to journal about African American History and social issues with my words and photography through my eyes.
I am an advocate for change and equality. The way society views African Americans in this country are through a negative scope no matter the community(Feminsts, LGBTQ, Single Moms, Black Males, etc). We are sterotyped, underpaid, overlooked, and not valued at all.
My husband and kids will be tagging along for this journey so it will possibly be a family affair. I want to share with America and the rest of world the truth about African Americans. It is important for others to understand how we exist, endure, nuture, and exceed societys statistical expectations.
Funds will be used for but not limited to:
-Purchase of additional tools, equipment, and travel fees
-Visit historical sites/musuems/communities that played a major role in Black History.
-Travel from state to state getting a to know other Pro-Black organizers while attending events for change
-Advertising and Marketing this project because the more supporters the more awareness.
-Planning small conferences and speaking engagements
I am looking to launch this project in July-August of 2018 and to start traveling as early as January 2019. I have already started some groundwork here in South Florida. I will post updates on this journey with hopes we can move sooner on travel dates. I am hopeful that this entire project will evolve to a documentary. Not only will I keep record of the travel through my journaling. I will be sharing this experience through all my social media channels.
To reach my goal of $10,000 would be my hearts desire. However, the journey will begin with the seeds you will have already sewn.
Your support will continue to ignite a spark within myself to continue pushing for change and inspiring the world through positivity. My history is very important and I need to give it back to our community and generations to come. We are a diverse society. I challenge you to take this journey along with me.
