The Black Out Loud conference, an extension of the Black Out Loud book by poet/writer/Kennedy Center Citizen Artist Fellow, Donney Rose, is a three-day conference dedicated to celebrating Black visibility in the realm of arts, media and activism. Through social mixers, workshops, panel discussions and a keynote address, Black Out Loud seeks to empower/center the narrative of the Black American experience by offering attendees communicative tools and inspiration to push their stories within the margins.
The inaugural Black Out Loud conference will be hosted in Baton Rouge, La., but will import talent, thought leaders and organizers from across the country for a weekend of re-imagining how the Black narrative is positioned in the larger American story. Special invited guests include keynote speaker Van Lathan (TMZ/Red Pill Podcast), workshop facilitator, Michael “Quess” Moore (Co-Founder of Take ‘Em Down NOLA), workshop facilitator, Deborah “Deep” Mouton (Houston’s first Black poet laureate), and several other local/national influencers to be announced
