Black Male Teacher Inspiring Hope

My third week as Chair @ DSU ends with a conversation with a young man who lost his scholarship - one point off from the GPA requirement. He’s worked to make the first payment, but $750 off for the 2nd (due Monday). We sat and talked about his goals - to be a 2nd grade teacher in 3 years. We talked about the hard work ahead to get a new scholarship. He’s done extensive work in his community and that seeded his commitment to teaching.
