Animal Rescuer Needs Help

Donation protected
Rosemary founded JerseyGirls Animal Rescue in 2012 and spends just about all of her free time saving the lives of Animals from kill shelters,  having rescued more than 500 animals since 2012, including dogs from Texas after Hurrocane Harvey in 2017 and Hurricane Florence in 2018.

As the hurricane hit NC, a freak NJ rainfall caused her basement to flood, leaving her furnace and hot water heater irreparable and in need of replacement.  Just a few days later,  one of her own beloved dogs began vomiting.  X- rays and bloodwork were inconclusive and Roscoe continued to vomit for a 4th day.  It was decided exploratory surgery was the only option,  to search for a foreign body in his intestines. Lo and behold,  a part of a toy was removed from Roscoe's intestine.  Problem solved? No, not exactly! Four days after surgery,  Roscoe's abdomen swelled and appeared bruised and he began scratching it, despite wearing a cone; he could reach it with his hind foot! Despite ice packs and an added anti-inflammatory, nothing stopped him and by Day 6, his incision was gaping open.  Besides lots of blood,  it appeared part of his intestines were hanging out. He was rushed to the emergency vet at 11 pm, where he was stabilized overnight,  and then sent to the main hospital the following morning for a second surgery.

Thankfully,  Roscoe is recovering well,  now 5 days post op after his second surgery.  The problem is the financial distress this has burdened Rosemary, a single mom, with.  The total cost of care for Roscoe, from beginning to end,  was $7,619. A friend loaned her $1,500 for the deposit at the hospital,  she paid for the initial visit, medications post surgery, and $1,125 at the ER (this was most her bi-weekly budget) and now a balance of $3,393 remains, plus the debt to her friend.

Throughout these trying times,  Rosemary has continued managing the rescue (while also working full time) but is struggling.  The financial burden is heavy and she needs help.  Any help will be greatly appreciated to give this big hearted woman just a little peace of mind.

We, her volunteers,  would be thankful for help to help our leader.
