Uganda Orphans Floating Classroom

Tax deductible
FULLY FUNDED - THANKS!

3.5 million orphans in Uganda have difficult lives.
Up to 70% of orphans become criminals as adults. Among girls, 60% end up in prostitution, where the HIV/AIDS rate is 37%. Many are also illiterate, because no one will pay for their schooling.

(BiZoHa Orphans)

Orphans at BiZoHa Humanist Orphanage School are lucky. 105 orphans and needy children here are sponsored by generous international donors who provide school tuition, uniforms, books, supplies, and daily lunch. BUT...

Job skills are still needed! Vocational training in a craft that can provide the orphans and other disadvantaged youth with a livelihood after they graduate.

"BiZoHa Floating Classroom" will deliver three high-wage skills. The project is simple: Build A Big Boat at beautiful Lake George, located inside Queen Elizabeth National Park

(Orphans in Kyarumba Carpenty Worshop)

Three careers our project prepares children for are:

* Boat-Building / Carpentry
* Fishing
* Tourism

-- Boat-Building / Carpentry: There aren't enough boats on Lake George to serve the residents and 100,000 visitors per year. More boats are needed! Carpentry skills are also cherished, for roofing homes and building furniture.

-- Fishing is the primary occupation of Lake George villagers; their daily catch is easily sold to eager merchants waiting on the docks. When "BiZoHa Humanist Boat" is completed, the students will learn fishing skills.

-- Tourism is exploding in Uganda. The dock where BiZoHa Humanist Boat will be constructed is only 12 miles away from Kazinga Channel , the most popular attraction in QE Park - it has more hippos per square mile than anywhere else on Earth. Our boat will voyage the waterways, teaching students the biology of the region, preparing them to be tour guides.

The BiZoHa Humanist Boat - on weekends, school holidays, and term breaks - will also provide income via lake tours offered to guests at the BiZoHa Eco-Huts and BiZoHa Visitor Hostel . Income earned will support Teacher Salaries, and maintenance costs of the BiZoHa Humanist Centre that distributes secular information in this overly-religion nation.
