Birdsong Farm Soy&Corn-Free Eggs
Birdsong Ridge Farm is a beautiful peaceful place where our chickens are pasture raised. Currently, we have had an amazing start and our hens are beginning to produce fantastic eggs. Our dream is not only to have happy healthy chickens laying free range eggs but to raise and produce eggs that are also soy and corn free. Most corn produced in the USA is genetically modified.

We currently access our corn- free feed from a local Mennonite grain mill. While we love buying local; their non-GMO feed is soy-based, and produced on the same stones the GMO corn is milled. We are grateful as they have recently honored our request to use an alternative recipe that is soy-free especially for us. YAY! BUT we can not claim our eggs are soy and corn free because of residual soy and corn on the mill stones they use.
We have researched several companies to ship their NON-GMO, soy free feeds to us. These feeds are expensive to buy and more expensive to ship. We considered them seriously. However, after further research and conversations directly with them they revealed, they too use the same milling equipment for their corn and soy feeds as they do their other grains and "can not absolutely guarantee it is completely corn and soy free." (WHAT??)
It comes down to one singular answer. We need our own grain milling equipment. This go fund me page is all about purchasing a NEW commercial grade grain mill and producing corn-free, soy-free, pasture-raised feed for our hens. This will result in eggs that anyone can eat and feel good about. If you have ever loved someone with cancer or experienced it yourself, you understand how important it is to avoid certain foods. Even when you feel like eating you need to avoid certain foods and also to get protein. Our eggs will be perfect for those who are on special diets, allergic to corn or soy or simply want to avoid GMOs.
We have a lovely farm, we have recently purchased 3 Mennonite built buildings for our chickens. We have modified them for roosting at night and for the hens to have a safe place to lay their eggs. We have over 10 acres for them to play, lay in the sun and chase bugs the last bit we need now is the one we didn't even think we would even need. Sure, "Chickens will eat anything!" But that does not mean they should!
Please offer a bit of help to Birdsong Ridge Farm so we can realize this dream to provide "real" healthy food for our hens, so they can provide "real" healthy eggs.
Once our goal is met and we are in production of our soy&corn free eggs we will work with our friends in the oncology departments in Nashville, TN and throughout middle Tennessee to donate eggs to their patients in need who could otherwise not access this important healthier protein source.
