Birdie's Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hey Everyone,

As you know, our little Birdie went in for her spay and had complications during her surgery. These were as a result of her previous Caesarian Section she had prior to us adopting her. When they opened her up, they found; adhesions on part of her organs, some of her organs were tangled and had attached to her uterus, abnormal ovarian tissue (which had to be removed), a build-up of fluid in the uterine horns. She was under anesthesia much longer than anticipated to correct these above complications.

When we went to pick her up from the vet, they found that she was bleeding and made the decision to keep her in overnight. When the anesthesia started to wear off, she got a little aggressive towards the staff and ripped her stitches out. She had to be sedated and have her little tummy stapled.

She came home the following morning, but she kept bleeding through her dressing and her gums kept going white. We did some home first aid to try and rectify the situation but unfortunately, she had to be readmitted into hospital.

She had a really good night and was mildly tempered for the most part. She kept bleeding throughout the night which was very worrying. The veterinary staff sat inside her kennel and sang and talked to her until she was comfortable enough to let them draw blood to test her clotting times, as well as her platelets and blood level. Everything came back normal, but they could not get the bleeding to stop.

The vet was fearing they would have to do an additional surgery to try and stop the bleeding but has decided to keep her in the hospital for the weekend. They plan to keep her sedated, to limit her movement, and to run an IV line containing medication that will hopefully help with the clotting. She is getting an exceptional level of care, and the cost per night to stay over is between £500 and £600 (approx $635 - $762). She will be staying a total of 5 nights at this time (hopefully it will not have to be extended for any longer than that).

Any help would mean the world to us. This is such an unexpected expense, three and a half months before having our baby. We honestly would not ask unless we really needed it and appreciated the suggestion from many of you. Thank you for taking the time to read this xxx
