Birdie Be Well

Birdie finally found her furever home and the vet found heartworms too! After completing treatment, she had terrible and unexpected complications. Due to years living with heartworm, and despite being heartworm free, her lungs partially collapsed and she began losing massive quantities of blood out her airways. Her lungs filled with blood and she was drowning. She was  carried  into the emergency vet as she almost stopped breathing.  She’s stable and will be recovering in the doggy ICU for a few days. She’ll likely have long term lung damage and exercise restrictions, but she’s on the mend and I pray she’ll be home soon. 

Her mom Danielle is the warmest and most loving person you will ever meet and is in medical school to become a family practice or pain management physician. She means the world to her fur babies and to her spoonie friends who are counting on her to change the world one day as a doctor.
