The Bionic Porcupines 2.0 won United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) President’s Environmental Youth Award for Region 8 and are headed to Washington DC in August 2017 to participate in the ceremony at EPA Headquarters. The Bionic Porcupines 2.0, a team of four 12-year-olds in Sandy, Utah, decided to take bird safety under their wings during the First Lego League ANIMAL ALLIES season by inventing a cost-effective, portable air dancer to prevent birds from striking airplanes. The EPA is recognizing this innovative device with a national award.
