Bindu Sky Pomeroy, beloved Vail Valley local, snowboarder, teacher, brother, son and friend of many tragically passed away on November 27, 2018 leaving a legacy we hope to carry on.
Bindu would have celebrated his 45th birthday today (January 16) and his family and friends are launching this page in his honor.
Bindu’s passion for life and his love of people were some of his greatest traits. As a pillar of the local backcountry community, he left many friends with great memories of living life to the fullest. (See video below).
Bindu was also passionate about sharing his meditation and mindfulness practice with those he knew and loved. He created a mindfulness curriculum at Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy, influencing many students and athletes who brought these lessons beyond the classroom into their personal lives and careers.
In Bindu’s memory, honoring his giant heart and his outrageous passion for life, we are creating some legacy projects that we hope have lasting impact in Eagle County and beyond.
Our primary goal right now is to raise funds to help support the students at the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy and the Ski and Snowboard Club who are building a memorial to honor Bindu’s memory in Maloit Park in Minturn near the school where he taught for the past 9 years.
Remaining funds will go towards launching two efforts we believe to be closest to Bindu’s heart:
1. An annual Bindu Sky Spirit Award to support a high school student’s dream of pursuing their passion in snowboarding or skiing
2. An ongoing secular mindfulness-based school program to "Educate The Heart".
How much support we get will help us determine how much of this we can create in Bindu’s memory.
We are also seeking community based businesses and local organization partnerships.
