Everyone knows Bill, right? Most (if not all) Griffinites remember Bill Haisten from Griffin high school sports games. He was a fixture at local sporting events—going decades without ever missing a football, basketball, baseball, or soccer game. Not only that, he remembers the scores to every game he went to (and all of our phone numbers).
Bill was recently honored by having the field at Memorial Stadium named after him—and deservedly so. I mean, who else deserves the recognition more than Bill? The field at Memorial Stadium is now named "Bill Haisten Field".
Even though his health now prevents him from attending games, Bill was, and always will be...GRIFFIN'S BIGGEST SPORTS FAN.
GOALS:
•To design, purchase, and install cast bronze {bas-relief} signage for Bill, including his name, likeness, and biographical information, adjacent to the field or near the entrance to the stadium. This signage is a way to permanently place Bill in the stadium he loves and a way for fans to still see and remember him at home games.
•To establish a scholarship in Bill's name. THE BILL HAISTEN SCHOLARSHIP.
•To improve existing (or help purchase new) scoreboard which will include the updated stadium name.
•To help with upgrades or maintenence of existing PA (Public Address) system. TBD
I will be contacting the school board and the local touchdown club to discuss our best options moving forward.

As you can see from the photo below, the current signage consists of a vinyl black & white banner below the scoreboard which has not been updated with the new name. Bill deserves better!
