Help Ojy & Bill get a home

On August 25, 2017, our area was affected by Hurricane Harvey - a disasterous storm that left millions without power and thousands displaced from their homes. Sadly Bill (Lats) and I (the wife), along with our kids, are amongst those that lost their homes. We now find ourselves struggling to find an adequate replacement in an area that has little left to offer and many looking. We have found ourselves with a chance at a house that will meet our needs, but without enough of a downpayment to secure it. Sadly, time is not a luxury, as there are so many others seeking. So we are hoping to get the help we need to get into the house while it is available.

I have set the goal at $5500, as that would give us $5k more bargaining power to try to meet the wishes of the owner/financer (after the GFM cut). Could we use more than that? Absolutely. There is a chance that 5K will still set us short. But at this point, all that remains is to be hopeful. Ideally, the more we can offer, the better odds of securing the house with a swift closing - which is important as our hotel assistance runs out on October 9th.

If we raise more than what we need for the downpayment, it will be well used. We lost so much that has to be replaced, including appliances, clothes, and furniture.
