The BIG LOVE PROJECT
Service Project Leader: Molly Cuffe

Domestic Violence is one of those shadows of our community that we often don't see and we rarely talk about. Yet, every year, more than 10 million men and women in the US are subjected to Domestic Violence with 85% of those victims being women.  According to the CDC, nearly 1 in 4 women have experienced severe physical violence by an intimate partner during their lifetime.

Last October, the Steamboat Pilot stated there were 140 reports of domestic violence to law enforcement in 2017, up from 127 in 2016, and in 2018, according to Steamboat Advocates, the numbers are continuing to rise.

It's time to shine some light on this shadow.

Project Overview:  The Big Love Project is about providing the support and the community often necessary to make powerful life choices and to stand firmly in those choices.  Through our unique style of power yoga along with vision and goal work, and a supporting, nurturing community, we give women a strong foundation that they can take from the mat to the outside world to co-create a life standing in their own respective power and light.

Goal:  We understand walking into a yoga studio can be intimidating, especially when someone is emotionally, spiritually and/or physically compromised.  Yet that is when we need yoga the most. At The Big Love Project, our goal is to minimize the barriers of entry - mat, clothing, membership dues, etc., for those women who need yoga the most.

About Molly:
As someone who has had several toxic relationships, I can attest that while there were no physical scars, yet the damage to my psyche was undeniable. And, while I removed myself from the scenario, several years of binge drinking and self sabotage continued.  It wasn’t until I discovered yoga and my community of yogis that my world began to change and I began to heal and The Big Love Project was born.

“I believe yoga has the power to make the world a better place,” said Molly Cuffe, creator of The Big Love Project and OHY community member.

“By helping other women find their power, self worth and love for their truest self, we
will make the world shine brighter,” said Molly. “There’s nothing more remarkable than watching a woman find her power.”
