Big Boy was surrendered alone with Luna and Bert; Luna is their mom. Big Boy does not quite understand a leash however he is treat motivated which helps. His eyes jus break our hearts. Big Boy's hold is up on 9/10/19 and she can be killed by shelter staff after that date.

The shelter has started the heartworm positive dogs on ivermectin to help start them on the slow kill method of heartworm treatment. Ivermectin alone does not cure heartworm and does not kill the adult heartworm. Adult heartworm will continue to damage a dog’s organs. Thorough heartworm treatment to cure a dog of the disease consists of diagnostics and a two prong approach to treatment for both the adult or immature heartworm. Veterinary care and supervision is key.
