WHAT IS BEYOND BORDERS MISSION?


THE MINISTRY

The ministry of Beyond Borders has been established to serve and better enable Christian churches to fulfill the Great Commission and church planting through medical missions. We are committed to share the compassionate love and care of Christ facilitated by medical missions, providing for people in need of physical and spiritual healing.

THE MISSION

To assist the local church in fulfilling the Great Commission by providing and facilitating evangelism and church planting opportunities through medical and dental missions. We accomplish these goals by using medicine as the medium to first heal the physical body and then using the gospel of Jesus Christ to cure the soul. We give the gift of medicine, but we also share the gifts of love, peace, grace, and eternal hope that comes from our Lord Jesus Christ.


History of Beyond Borders Mission

The Beyond Borders Mission has been serving local communities in the Philippines since 2012. It is carried out every two years by the missionary volunteers of International Christian Community Center in Jersey City, NJ and Disciples of Christ Ministry in Staten Island, NY, in conjunction with the Medical Ambassadors of the Philippines and various local volunteer groups. Pastor Raymund Lopez of DOCM spearheads the mission in collaboration with Pastor Genesis Lardizabal of ICCC.

The first mission in 2012 was held in the province of Nueva Ecija which included medical and dental services. These services paved the way for a church to be planted - Dambana Church in Maybobon Barangay. In 2014, the mission team went to the city of Dumaguete where over 500 patients were treated physically and also evangelized. From this mission, Disciples of Christ Ministry of Dumaguete was born. The third mission in 2016 was held in Victoria, Tarlac which gave rise to Christian Faith Center. The mission team also established relations with the remote tribe of Tangan-Tangan in San Jose, Tarlac by providing school supplies and flip flops for the children as well as hosting a program involving games and food. 

This 2018 the mission team will be visiting three locations: Barangay Mayabo in Tubo, Abra; Barangays Cantoria and Barangobong in Luna, La Union; and Barangay Butubot in Balaoan, La Union. Each location will receive a combination of medical, dental and optical services. In addition, the mission team aims to provide flip flops and school supplies to at least 300 children throughout these locations, including those of the Tangan-Tangan tribe, which the team plans to revisit. Through the cumulative work of all the missionary volunteers and abundant prayer, the mission team believes another church will be planted by God's grace and more lives will be affected by the medical care provided and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.


The Budget

It is no small task to raise funds for an ever-growing mission, with more locations added each year and the desire to reach more people for Christ.  But as a mission team, we believe nothing is impossible with God. We believe transparency is key in communicating with potential donors regarding the allocation of all funds received. As part of this promise to transparency, the projected budget of this year's mission is listed below.

Please note that the current goal of $6,450 reflects only the bolded items listed below, which were deemed the most essential and prioritized items of the budget. Once we have reached the goal and ensured that the priority items have been funded, an update will be sent out and the goal will be increased to include the remaining items on the budget.
