Grandma Betty Taylor of Shanti Lodge Phuket, has picked up a nasty bacterial infection in her foot that spread very quickly up her leg. She was hospitalized for two weeks and is currently continuing her IV antibiotic treatment and cleaning of the leg as outpatient .
Unfortunately due to to her elder years, and being an expat, Grandma was never able get medical insurance. So the hospital bill of 250,000 Thai Baht plus the estimate of a further 50,000 for out patient treatment is a major burden for her to bear.
The costs of this ordeal is estimated to be whopping $8,500 USD, (300,000 THB) but we are all thanking our blessing that her leg and her life was saved.
