My Name is Bethany Dare and I have been lucky enough to be awarded a place on the three year Musical Theatre course at Arts Educational Schools London, commencing in September 2017. This course offers ‘the very best Musical Theatre training in the UK’ and is classed as ‘the pathway to London’s West End’. (https://artsed.co.uk/)
This is the opportunity I have been working towards ever since I was 3 years old, however as this university is in the private sector I have the challenge of raising the funding myself in order to attend the course for the full three years.
At the beginning of this year I was diagnosed with a nerve sheath tumour on a nerve ending in my spine which could have resulted in permanent damage, thereby putting an end to my musical theatre training and any hope of achieving my ambition of becoming a West End performer. With huge thanks to the dedication of my surgeon, he was able to remove the tumour successfully in December without causing any nerve damage, meaning that after a short recovery period I could continue with my training. This experience has made me even more determined to achieve my dream.
