Beth is very, very sick...

Beth is very, very sick, and she needs your help.

When Beth started to feel a little unwell earlier this year she put it down to stress and fatigue, but as symptoms grew increasingly worse she knew something was wrong.

Beth has been diagnosed with Lyme disease, and if you've never heard of it thats probably due to the fact that "the Australian Government does not support the diagnosis of locally acquired Lyme disease in Australia." That's a quote that comes directly from the department of health website.

So what is it? Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that affects the blood, contracted from a simple tick bite. This infection can lay dormant in a person for months and in some cases years before symptoms become present. In it's early stages it can be easily treated with a simple dose of antibiotics. However, if left untreated symptoms can become chronic and debilitating.

Australian ticks have not been proven to carry this bacteria, and thus the Australian Government and Department of Health have no grounds to fund treatment for those who suffer from it.

For those who do suffer, symptoms can be crippling. So far Beth's symptoms have included:

-Loss of muscle tone on both or one side of the face
-Severe headaches and neck stiffness due to inflammation of the spinal chord
-Pain and swelling in the large joints and tendons
-Tingling or numbness in extremities
-Abnormal pulse
-Shooting pains
-Heart palpitations and dizziness due to changes in heartbeat
-Changes in vision
-Severe fatigue
-Disorientation and confusion
-Short term memory loss
-Inability to concentrate, finish sentences or follow conversations
-Mental fog

Though her symptoms are severe, the worst part is that she cannot give her girls, Wren and Astrid, the care they need. She simply cannot look after them. This is a devastating hurdle to face and if you've ever met Beth, you'd know how much she prides herself on giving her daughters the best of herself.

TREATMENT

Because the care Beth needs is not available in Australia, she needs to travel. Urgently!

Beth will be travelling to Cypress for intensive treatment that is both physically challenging and expensive. This is where you can help.

Being chronically unwell is an expensive and exhausting business! Beth has spent thousands of dollars on this journey so far- all the while being too sick to work. Unfortunately there are no guarantees with treatment of Lyme Disease- sufferers have to try costly treatments with no guarantees.

All the funds raised through this campaign will go directly to treating Beth’s illness and the lengthy process of detoxing (this is an integral part of beating Chronic Lyme Disease and minimising the impact of the disease spreading)  Beth is hoping to raise funds to help with urgently needed treatment, including:

- Ozone therapy ( 4 weeks of intensive treatment at the Neomed Clinic in Cyprus to which more than half of the funds will go toward)
- Personal ozone generator to continue treatment once home in Australia
- Supplements and herbal antimicrobial medications
- Regular specialist appointments
- Hyperthermia therapy
- IV infusions
- Hyperbaric Oxygen therapy
- Chelation and detoxification therapy
- Infrared heat therapies
- Reflexology and acupuncture
- Medications

Every little bit goes a long way in helping Beth reach her monetary goal, getting treatment and moving every step closer to being able to give her girls everything they deserve. If you can help please donate now, spread the word and help us get back the Beth we all know and love.
