Ben There, Done That

Donation protected
In June 2012 Ben was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Chemo began immediately and in October of that year his sister, Mallory, donated her stem cells to save Ben's life through a transplant. It was successful and Ben has been cancer free ever since!
Since then he's been in and out of the hospital with various illnesses and dealing with chronic graft vs. host disease. Last year he spent more than a month in ICU with pneumonia where we almost lost him.
The emotional strain on his family has been immeasurable but his wife, Sarah, and kids, Eliza (8), Alayna (6), and Parker (3), have never wavered in their love and support.
They were blessed to receive money from disability insurance and were surviving financially. They received a letter last year from the insurance company telling them that the company accidentally overpaid them and sent them a bill for $20,000. Because of this mix up their taxes were filed wrong and they recieved another bill for $7,000 to the IRS. They aren't able to pay these bills so the penalties are adding up and they now owe $11,000 to the IRS. Also, because they aren't able to pay the insurance company back they can no longer receive any disability money but Ben is still missing work due to doctor visits and hospital stays. The debt keeps piling up with no end in sight.
Ben has a good job and works for an incredibly supportive company, but it's just not enough.
