Benson Bridge (Walkabout)
Tax deductible
The Benson Walkabout Bridge has fallen into disrepair and in need of some TLC. This bridge was completed in 2000 of recycled primary timber that had been in a body of salt water and was well preserved. The walking portion of the bridge is currently covered in plywood.
My goal is to replace the the decking on the bridge with Trex composite decking which is warranted for 25 years. The bridge is 100 feet long and is used daily to gain access over Silver King Wash which does flood occasionally.
Benson Bridge is crossed by 1,000s of visitors during the fall, winter and spring seasons who enjoy walking the trails in a tree park that is considered a jewel in the Sonoran Desert. Photographers and Birders flock to this park because of the scenic views.
We are hoping to raise the funds in the next month so we can begin the upgrade.
My husband and I are currently serving as Resident Volunteers at Boyce Thompson Arboretum and are working with staff to implement this positive impact to the Aboretum experience.
